OM gets dirty!

House music lovers have been flocking to OM Records releases for years. The roster of artists at OM is a who's who of the house music world. Kaskade, Marques Wyatt,
Andy Caldwell, Mark Farina, Chuck Love, JT Donaldson
and DJ Sneak just to name a few. Their latest release, Electrolush breaks down some of their own walls. This release is compiled and mixed by DJ Fluid and contains some of the dirtiest minimal and electro tracks you have ever heard. Disc 2 starts with Ame (a long time favorite) and features the latest from Chicken Lips, Fred Everything, Thomas Shumacher and a deep little number from Andy Caldwell. This is not your typical Om folks! This is the likes of which late night parties are made. Late night parties that lead people to do things they would not normally do. It's infectious, dirty, and downright nasty at times. Here's the summer cocktail recipe, one part Electrolush, 2 parts vodka, one part Red Bull and all your friends! You could sell tickets to that one! P.S. Ignore the bad cover art.

Look for James Figurine aka DNTEL aka Jimmy Tamborello to release his next album Mistake Mistake Mistake Mistake on July 11th (Plug Research). Guests on the record include Jenny Lewis and Erlend (Sherman loves you) Oye. I have heard a bit of the release and look for to the entire record. Folks in Europe can enjoy it in June.

Just finished listening to the latest in what seems to be a new genre, remixes of old jazz tunes. It's called Re-Bop The Savoy Remixes. I have been growing quite tired of the Verve Remixes and the others that have followed weakly in their footsteps. This is a refreshingly new direction. This compilation takes nearly all (save for one) instrumental classics and gives them a funky modern vibe. Stand out tracks include Eclipse's take on Modern Jazz Quartet, DJ Jazzy Jeff's rework of Duke Jordan's Night in Tunisia and Basement Boys spin on Curtis Fuller. King Britt takes on the only vocal arrangement and that is Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughan's impeccable Lover Man. Savoy Jazz provided the classics and the biggest names in hip hop and dance music have provided their expertise. I am digging this record. Take a listen for yourself.
King Britt is hosting Re-Bop parties in the following cities:
May 11 - Philadelphia, PA at The Latest Dish
May 12 - Chicago, IL at Zentra
May 13 - Cleveland, OH at The View
May 14 - Ann Arbor, MI at Necto

Some time ago, Sherman extolled the talents of Antony & the Johnsons. Courtesy of the wonder called You Tube, you can see why. Genius!

Hey Seattle!! Tickets go on sale this Saturday for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young at the White River Amphitheater! Not a guilty pleasure, simply a pleasure.

On a side note...it's odd not to be attending Coachella this year. I guess I'll just have to watch the DVD this week instead. For those interested, Sunday has sold out due to Ms. Madonna's performance.

That's all for today. Big hug!
