Lady Love

Sherman would like to send his condolences to the family of Lou Rawls. Lou passed away this morning at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in LA. Lou suffered from brain and lung cancer and lost his battle at 72. Not only was Lou a hitmaker with songs such as "Lady Love", "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" and "Natural Man" , he was also an incredibly charitable man, as well. I once had the pleasure of sitting next to Mr. Rawls at the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament in Palm Springs back in '89. A storm was brewing and we were all sitting in the clubhouse enjoying coffee and breakfast. He was seated at my table along with Dinah Shore and Steve & Eydie. He had some great stories to tell and as far as I was concerned, he could have talked all day. That voice was somethin' else. Deep, sexy and soulful. You will be missed.

In other music news, local Seattle band Pedro the Lion have called it quits. David Bazan has decided to do some solo gigs this month and then team up with Vic Chestnutt, Will Johnson and Mark Eitzel to start touring in February. These troubadours will be known as the Undertow Orchestra. Really looking forward to hearing what they all come up with. Great fan of Dave Bazan and all he does.

Spent quite a bit of time with the Milosh release You Make Me Feel, this past weekend. This is a release that Sherman has had for quite some time, but I just hadn't ventured towards it. It's like I was waiting for the perfect moment. That moment occurred over the weekend. Needing to find something electronic, yet romantic, glitchy yet melodic. This fit the bill. This is a beautiful record. His soulful voice floats between gorgeous melodies and techy beats. Plug Research released this Canadian artist's cd back in 2004, but it's a new discovery for me. Milosh will be opening for Imogen Heap in Toronto this month. One can only hope we see him in the states soon. This is an artist to watch.

Have you all heard Goldfrapp's new release? It's called Supernature. It's been released in the UK, but we don't have it here yet. It's so much fun! Great electro beats that are reminiscent of the music of the 90's. It's very sexy and glam while still projecting some straight up pop along the way. "Number 1" is a great track with an even better video! The Number 1 ep is now available for download on iTunes. This is a hot release! Very accessible, very fun, made for dancing, parties and other things that Sherman would blush to mention! Get this record for sure! The US is looking at an '06 release date with tour to follow!

Today Sherman shares another site with all of you. Boing Boing. This is a daily stop for Sherman. Great source for finding out bits and pieces about everyone and everything.

Our Guilty Pleasure today is more of a dedication than anything else. We have a great friend who is celebrating his birthday today (jw)!!!! He's quite the fan of one Mr. Neil Diamond. Today, we ask you to enjoy "I Am I Said" in honor of our birthday boy!!!!
